Final Post

A very short post to say a huge thank you to all Mams, Dads, Grannies, Granddads, aunties... (everybody!) for your kind words and support throughout the school year. I hope that everybody enjoys the summer and I would like to wish the girls in Room 13 all the best next year, when they move to Room 9 and 1st class. If you ever fancy taking a look back at the website in the future, feel free to do so!

Thanks again,
Ms O'Connor :)

June 2015

Our last month in Senior Infants has arrived and it is a busy one!!

We started the month with our school tour. We went to Ardgillan Castle. We met King Tom who gave us a tour of the castle. Then we went searching for BIG FOOT (We knew who it really was!!) and finally we spent some time in the playground. The sun was shining and we had a great day!

We had lots of fun exploring magnets in our classroom.

We also had lots of fun weighing different items with cubes. We worked really well in groups.

Our lovely Book Buddies had a bake sale and we were treated to lots of different cakes and treats.
Well done to them on raising money for a good cause! To celebrate we enjoyed dining al fresco in the school yard!

We also went on a minibeast hunt! Before we left the classroom teacher caught a fly in the bug viewer. We then went exploring to find our own bugs. We found worms, woodlice, spiders and ants..!

In the last weeks of Senior Infants we had lots of fun.

Here we are working together during Sports Day!

We also enjoyed a last supper/ teddy bears picnic with our Fantastic Book Buddies.

Butterfly Project- May/June 2015

On Monday we got a very exciting delivery, we had lots of fun guessing what might have been in the box. We were very surprised and excited to see that we had actually got 10 teeny tiny caterpillars!

We have been taking really good care of the caterpillars all week.
Other classes have enjoyed coming in to see the caterpillars.
Every day two girls draw what they can see in the tubs in our observation book...

Every day the caterpillars are growing, changing and moving.

Ms O'Connor took the caterpillars home at the weekend and she has been reading them some bed time stories, look how much they have grown!

We have also become illustrators and in small groups we illustrated the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Here we are at work.

The caterpillars then turned into chrysalis!

Then they moved into a new home! We put out oranges, apples and sugar water waiting patiently for our butterflies to arrive.

Here is a video of one of our butterflies emerging from the chrysalis. We sang the butterfly song to help him on his way!
